Troop History

Serving Boone, North Carolina since 1938, BSA Troop 109 is charted by Boone United Methodist Church and is a member of the Blue Ridge district of the Old Hickory Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Boy Scouts of America was chartered by the United States Congress on February 8, 1910, and is open to all boys between the ages of eleven and eighteen.

First published in 1910, The Boy Scout Handbook, now in its 11th edition, provides the guidelines and mission of scouting.

The Boy Scout Oath is:
“On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight.”
